And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice
came out of the cloud, saying: This is my beloved Son: hear Him. Mark 9:7
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33
The very wealth English Baron, Fitzgerald, had only one son.
His wife had died while the son was quite little and so it was Fitzgerald and
his son who grew up in a single family home. As his wealth increased, the Baron
invested heavily in paintings by the “masters” until his collection was highly
valued and coveted by collected and museum curators. Then the son became sick
and died at age fourteen. Fitzgerald grieved the lost of wife and now his only
son. Then Fitzgerald died without any heirs to inherit his considerable estate.
His will called for all of his paintings to be sold at auction.
The day of the auction came and a large crowd had assembled.
All the art work was on display including a painting of “My Beloved Son.” The
painting had been done by an unknown artist and was of poor quality and it
didn’t receive much notice. The gavel was sounded for the auction to begin, the
Attorney read from the will: “The first picture to be auctioned was of my son.”
No one bid, it had no collector value. Finally the gardener, who was loved by
the boy, was the only bidder. He bought it for sentimental reasons and bid a
half English Crown.
The auction was stopped and the attorney continued reading
from the will: “Whoever buys my son gets all my estate and the holdings of it.
The auction is over!”
God the Heavenly Father has an Only Son named Jesus Christ
and as the Bible tells us, whoever buys into the Son, and invites this Son to
be a personal Saviour, gets it all including an eternal home in heaven with
this Son and the Heavenly Father!
This world may not want Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, BUT IT
SURELY NEEDS HIM! How about you…have you made Him your Lord, your Saviour, and
your King?
