Back from grave, the land of death. Dead and alive to give hope to many, can you believe it or could these be another Lazarus?

This is a true live story of a promising young man who once deviated from the presence of God, who thought that life is a bed of roses.

Fortunately, I was opportune to visit him with my youth friends after we heard the great testimony from his caring parents. Yes he was disobedient to them, due to the kinds of friends he accompany with. Form the visit to this young man’s residence, he narrated a lot.

One morning as usual with his colleagues, they normally go into internet fraud business, through which they loot people’s money in dollars, and may other currencies. He opened a system to do his normal looting business in a cybercafé, while on a system one of his friends who is into the same type of business was bullying a boy younger than them, then he tried to tell the guy that the boy should be forgiving, instead of listening to him, decided to take offence that he was insulting him.
Though he himself never took any notice of anything from the guy, since they were friends. Remember that the heart is wicked whenever we allow the devil to come in and take control, especially with little pride inside out.

This is what disqualified the devil from being in heaven today and forever, and he wants man to do same, its unfortunate that many are on their way to hell. On his way out after using the system, he got a heavy knock from behind, and immediately his head was being forced into a giant leister generator, though unconscious after the heavy knock then, on remembering where he was, it was too late, his head was cut opened with blood gushing out to the ground. It was the same so called friend whom he advised not to bully the boy in the cybercafé with. The boy escaped and was later captured by the police.

When the head was cut opened, he did not know when he was rushed to a hospital, instead he found himself in the land of the dead, where the devil remembered him that he was already dead, and hell was his place. According to him, he was baffled to know that this hell was the same told to him by his loving parents, but due to the kinds of friends he follows, disobedient sets in, like smoking kinds of things which turned his brain, believing that his ways, suggestions were better. It is the pride that this same friend of his heard caused all these, remember that pride is the product of different sins.
While in hell, according to him, he was picked out from there, and looking at who picked him, he almost went blind, then he understood that it was JESUS who came for his soul. He could not look upon Him, because He was too holy to be looked upon, brighter then whatever you can think of.
He (JESUS) warned him to go back that it wasn’t yet his time to leave the earth, but that he should change his ways, and this was his last time, and he should make well use of the final grace given. While all these period, his body was in comma in the hospital for six weeks (6 weeks). When his soul was released, he found himself alive again, with people around him and with a sown head. After narrating his story, everyone was shocked, and all these while, his mother had been praying for him. What a caring mother she was.

There were tears of joy from everyone. He visited by the police who asked him to press for charges, but he simply told them that his soul was lost before and then forgiving, then should not do same, though with sown head, he rather leave him for Jesus to judge. Exactly it’s not easy for everyone one of us, but remember that “there is no revenge as complete as forgiveness”. Please I’m not preaching but telling us to embrace CHRIST, because neither you nor I may have such an opportunity to repent, as this young fellow.

If you were in the shoes of this young man, would you have that kind of heart of forgiveness towards the guy that gave him such an everlasting “mark” and also that sent him to hell? “Well remember that he that cannot forgive others, the breaks the bridge over which he himself must pass if he would ever reach heaven; for everyone has need to be forgiven”. Be wise.

Did you recently lose a battle?

Did you recently lose a battle, or have you been discouraged in your present situation? Be ready for next line of action to take. Pick up your broken pieces or may I call it broken spirit and let not anything weigh you down. Wave off thinking, if it is allowed, it will destroy your emotions and actions, and eventually destroy your goals. Now, study your past failures defeats, and see if there is any leakage. Ask yourself why this defeat? Where did it come from? How did it happen? What will be the next line of action to use or apply to avoid such an ugly situation next time?
I believe with these, you will soon find yourself succeeding. People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing- that’s why we recommend it daily. History has demanded that the most notable winners usually encountered heart breaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats. It is very necessary you motivate yourself may be by counseling, encouragement through friends, and learn to assimilate positive minds, abstain from every negative that destroy one’s emotions and actions. Always bear in mind that success is the maximum utilization of the ability that you have. The best motivating is self-motivating. The guy says “I wish someone would come by and turn me on”. What if they don’t show up? You’ve got to have a better plan for your life.

Don’t let the mistakes and disappoints of the past control and direct your future.

Many has fallen to this prey and are still doing so because they do not want to pick up their pieces or accept their failures, yes it has happened but one thing is sure, you can never recall the past nor turn the clock to the former. Accepting your mistakes does not mean you cannot be somebody NO! Rather it would help you re-build your house, when you are ready.
I once mentioned that many have gone to grave without fulfilling the purpose why they were sent into this world, may be they were stingy by not sharing the good knowledge given to them or they allowed their mistakes to weigh them down. What about you, would you do same, or you accepted friends and families advice? Are you discouraged their statements that no one has succeeded on that line?
Learn to man your business if you want success, this will enable you know your rights from your wrongs. In this life, if we do not acknowledge that GOD is the true creator of you and me, and not the common existence which some doctrinal issues use today, then mistakes of the past will not let us have true success. Acknowledge His existence (GOD) and believe that He is the only ever existing one of the past, present, and future. He knows when and when you‘ve accepted Him, do not play with such opportunity, He is the listener to all silent conversations.`
You see, He will positively direct your future and purpose of being here. He will turn your disappointments into success and with joy unthinkable. He is the only one that makes all things new and this “new” is in CHRIST JESUS, the only Son who died and resurrected. Trust Him in anything, He will make meaning into your present situation, and personally control and direct your future.

See Yourself as a Winner.

If you do not see yourself as a winner then yuo cannot perform as a winner. Some people see themselves as winners, then along the line due to one mistake or the other they fail to continue, thereby depriving themselves from that precious crown. see yourself as a true winner everyday, and approach them with confidence even if you see yourself failing, just have in mind the word "focus" and work towards it. The best tennis player Serrina Williams once failed along the line, but today she number one in the world, because she was focused, though lost while climbing, due to the confidence she had put the past behind and achieved her target.

Failure is a detour not a dead end street

Failure is a detour not a dead end street.The street is always open to one who fails but closed to one who decide not to comtinue. Failure must be made by everyone born by a woman, but its not a dead end but a means to us organise our future for better tomorrow and generation to come.In the game of life, its a good idea to have a few early losses which relieves you of the pressure of trying to maitain an undefeated season. Its a way to re-programme our ways, since we are are not Spirits. Though its not a means of excuse for one not to make it to heaven as Judas Iscariot who accepted failure by falling on the way side, thereby coming to a dead-end street. After all St. Peter one of the apostles never accepted failure when he denied Christ, but continue by amendig his ways. So never accept it as a dead end but as a way of bringing progress, remember Rome was not built in a day.

Don't go at this alone. Achieving a goal or dream requires a team effort. There will be times when you feel like giving up, when you feel like it's too much to take. One of the surest ways to overcome these small setbacks is to have the support and guidance of your goal partner.

EXPIRED GRACE

Many years ago, the old Prophets sort for the Messiah that will render them help, Moses, Elijah, Joshua, Isaiah, Ezekiel, David, Daniel and many others, though spoke of Him but were not opportune to meet Him in person nor the test of His power which we use today under Grace. And when He finally came, pride did not allow us to recognize Him, instead we challenge His authority and use all kinds of vituperative languages on the only Son of God our Creator, if you were in His position maybe the world would not exist, but He wasn’t like me and you, but showered us His Mercy for He Loved us, this is were GRACE comes in, but we misuse it. His coming has brought you and me freedom to operate in His strength and this is that GRACE which has been extended to us.
Formerly, the Law ruled JESUS brought GRACE to replace the Law that had many negative impacts, which carries out immediate action on any offender us.
Today, we toil with this GRACE, for wicked act, but remember that as products on earth expires, so will the GRACE expire, just a day you and me would never expect, that Expired GRACE is DEATH which no one can run from.
The story of the Rich man and Lazarus in the Bible is a perfect Example that we should learn from, Lazarus though poor in the physical was Rich in the Spirit, why? He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour, who is the door way to Righteousness into heaven. Lazarus was Wise to grab the opportunity given to him i.e. Grace, and used it well but the Rich man knowing not that one day this Grace would Expire foolishly ruined his life here on earth.
Remember, “All that Glitters is not Gold”.
Just one day they both died (Grace was taken from them both), the Rich man found himself in hell and Lazarus in heaven, these are places when entered, there would be no coming back to make amend.

To explain this further, listen to this Story:

i. There were Seven Boys (7 boys) one of them was once warned by his father not to keep company with bad friends, but paid deaf ears, just one day something terrible happened, that is death, the young boy passed out, and found himself in another world, he met the chief liar, deceiver, accuser of the brethren and any other name you’ve heard of, i.e. the devil, asking him where he was, unfortunately was told that he just died. He never believed it, and hearing different kinds of noises far away in the pit of hell, he started by saying:

Young boy: I did not know that heal was real, I thought it was just a joke...

Devil: well I made people not to understand, just as I stood on your way, when your dad was warning you about here, and I did everything possible for you not to listen, by bringing different ideas into your mind.....

You see the devil reminded him of everything and the deceit played by him, beloved he is still doing it to us. Can you recount of any situation where, when, what, how, you were deceived by the enemy, may be through FRIENDS, RELATIONS, and ideas absolved in your mind?

Do you know that while this discussion was going on between the devil and the boy that JESUS was besides listening, the boy turned to ask for second chance; Jesus turned his back, showing that the devil was saying truth. This is where the accuser of the brethren came about (Revelation 12:10, Job 1:9, 2:5 Zech 3:1, 2 Lu 22:31, Tit 2:3).
Suddenly, a force made the boy to follow the devil towards the direction of hell for his reward, not far away as the boy was weeping, he shouted “JESUS”, and found himself back on earth., with people (family, friends, neighbours), weeping over his dead body, not knowing that something terrible was taking place somewhere.
Yes, Grace was restored back to him, not because he deserved it, but GOD Almighty gave him another chance. Remember that your situation may not be same as his, many go finally without coming back. After narrating the story, the first topic he preached, was “HEAL IS REAL”. Today he goes about with his friends preaching the Gospel, capturing souls for Jesus, to gain that “Crowns of Life”. Another Grace has been added to his life for him to correct things, remember again that his situation might be same as yours, only God has all the reasons for returning him back.

ii. Another story, is about two people, a boy with his girl friend, they both came to a crusade ground, while there, the man of God called for Altar, call for people to give there life to Christ, the girl left to do so, the boy unhappy with her withdrew her back and demanded they should leave the place, while crossing the Express Road, a vehicle knocked down the girl and it resulted to instant death, do know that the boy left her there, ran to the crusade ground for confession, immediately gave his life to Christ. Beloved, who should we obey, GOD OR Man? Thanks, you all ready know the answer. If she had insisted, she would have been a great testimony today instead the boy became the testimony.

You see how the devil uses friends to deceive friends and that friend of yours may in turn, turn to Christ.

Thanks for reading me, my beloved what about now, do you know if you have just little time on earth, do you know if the building you are standing on is about to collapse no matter the best Civil Engineer used on it, do you know if the car you are riding is about to somersault, beloved I’m not praying for a bad prayer but the devil will not allow you or me to listen, when the Holy Spirit is showing us the right way. Our Grace on earth here is very, very short, compared to what we would enjoy in heaven , an EVERLASTING one, woooooooooo, EVERLASTING is the word, hell is all also Everlasting, no ending.
Its not too late to join the wagon of Christ which is about to take off, Remember: The First Ark has taken off, the second and last one is about to, please no third, don’t even think or dream of it, because there is no existence of such.

Lets use the zeros to represent years, that is one zero rep. one million year there are hundred zeros here, which means 100 million years in all.

That means one million years to come people in hell will still be there and those in heaven will continue to enjoy with God, two million years, the same, beyond 100 million years hell is still burning the sinners, and the Righteous in heaven is still enjoying. Do you that the Rich man is still in hell and Lazarus in heaven?

May be they have both spent 2000 years, oh! Not even a million year, how dreadful the hell is, prepared by God Himself.

Achiever

The secret of getting ahead is getting started; the secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming task into small manageable task and then starting on the first one.

You must believe and be aware of your inert qualities and potentials which lie latent because of non-usage.

Achievement is any attachment which puts you and a level of recognition and admiration.

Achievers have some common qualities which can be inherited or acquired through learning and experience which have made their attachment possible and these qualities have to be used well without reserve, such opportunities do not come by easily, when you start experiencing some incoming ideas put them down to paper quickly for remembrance because you do not know when, where, how next it will come in to help in future. Scientist are known for jotting or writing down ideas that comes by whether good or bad in other to help them in there future discovery. Learn to adapt putting down ideas because you do not know when next it will come, and might be difficult to get. To become an achiever some of these qualities have to be considered: confidence, growth, belief in your ability, creativity, passion, courage, patience.

Qualities of an Achiever:
Confidence in oneself initiates an attempt towards an activity and gives way to stepping forward towards believing in your ability to accomplish the task you have chosen. Faith is the key. Expanding your comfort zone is not quite the same as building self-confidence. However, the two do fit together rather nicely. The one begets the other. So many people feel stuck in a rut… bored from a routine that is safe and comfortable but not very exciting. Fear of falling flat on your face or of looking foolish stops you from reaching out beyond that cozy little life you have created for yourself. If your goal is to expand your comfort zone, then you must think positive while doing so. Remember that nothing really bad can happen to you if you are smart in how you go about trying new things. It is all just new adventures. Become like a curious child and have some fun.


Growth is an essential part of success and it comes through learning from our past mistakes. Can you remember anything you were trying to develop or ideas you had in mind once at different times, and you decided to dump them because you were unable to finish or make meaning out of it, go back by taking it up again, study your mistakes and try them out again, you will find out that something tangible will definitely come out of it. The first man that produced a motor car made series of mistakes and never gave up, despite discouragements from people, who never believed in him, but he had a target, today you and I can use cars to travel to very far distance. People may laugh at you, but they do not own your destiny or life, only stick to that purpose why you were born into this world. The greatest mistake or tragedy of a man is not to lose his loved ones, business, etc but not been able to fulfill the purpose of being sent here on earth. Discover your purpose of why you were created, may be you could be the one people have been waiting for, to save them from their misery. Don’t let the mistakes and disappointments of the past control and direct your future.
Many riches, wealth, knowledge, wisdom, have been wasted and dumped at cemeteries, graves filled with waste knowledge not used for the growth of man, hidden and unhidden. It is better to make the graves poorer than occupying them with riches.
Grow up now and let not that knowledge be a waste one, then would you become a great Achiever.

Believe in yourself and not on what people say about you. Here belief is same as faith. You don’t need people (everybody’s) approval to succeed. You must have faith in all that you put your hand into, because it is the key that moves mountains, but you have to keep on pushing while you are praying, and it’s an oasis in the heart which will never be reached by the caravan of thinking. A garden is the evidence of faith. It links us with all the misty figures of the past who also planted and were nourished by the fruits of their planting.
Believe that God gave you a mind of your own to think, reason and make decisions concerning your personal life. Some of the things you are afraid of are incapable of delivering their threat. Also, never stop your advance because of something you are afraid of. Do you know that behind every fear is your breakthrough? As long as you afraid, you may never hit your breakthrough. What are you afraid of? What is that thing you dread so much that has made you stop your advance? Drop it! That fear has no substance but faith has substance. Start to expect that the situation will turn around for your good and it shall be so. Expect the best. Reject every thought of failure, disappointment, dryness, delay or death. Around that bend lies your greatest joy, which will lead you to a positive result and a great Achiever.

Words have no life unless you give them life through your Actions.
Most people would like to be someone else to achieve a goal, but there is only one you in the whole Universe, remember you are Unique. You don’t need to be someone else to achieve your realizable goals, and this is where achievement starts.
The totality of your life experience makes you an unduplicated individual on earth. There is need for one to work towards his dreams, and that can be achieved by only being focused. Believe it is possible to solve your problems. Tremendous things happen to the believers. So believe the answer will come, when you believe, your perception will change, your language will change, your way of approach will change, and every negative side of you will change to positive, thereby making yourself, family, and nation great, and a great Achiever of your time.

Creativity is an inherent gift from God. It constantly reminds us that where there is a will there is a way. All those who aspire to enter the book of achievers must learn to be flexible.
NB.; Flexibility does not denote pliability. You need not to let yourself be subjected to the whims and wills of others in other to have a flexible mentality.
Flexibility can best be described as the ability to survey and assess a given situation swiftly and react to it on the basis of logic and reasoning with a maximum emotion.
Creativity is important in ones life, but one thing you have to realize is that life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself. Continue in the face of odds and obstacles, and the result will be tremendous. With motivation and aspiration, you can catapult yourself to greater heights, especially when the spirit is low.
Be open to ideas, for they are seeds that spring forth great riches and lasting success.
Without ideas, there can be no creativity. One striking word which desires a special search light in this discourse is creativity.
Creativity is an act of gift of consciousness; hence it is everybody’s inheritance. It is one reliable tool with which you can move from your present state to the state of your Creation. It is a driving force which gives birth to excellence in human activities. It is the spice of life, without it society will become bored.

Passion brings about commitment, dedication and zeal in the work you do. How do you feel after every each work accomplished? Do you meet them with great enthusiasm or the opposite? Do you approach each work with anger, rage, and outburst? Approach each activity with every zeal of burning love in you. Learn to enjoy the giving talent you have. Be fascinated in your work that is form of interest. Be excited in every state of your work and abstain from anger. Remember that of all things you wear, your expression is the most important, also beauty of every thing you do captures people’s attention; but personality captures the heart. Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do, but how much love we put in that action. Every zeal in a work brings success. Be passionate in your giving talent, for there lies the success, because you are expected to pass through this world but once, any good therefore that you can do, or any kindness or abilities that you can show to any fellow creature, do it now. Do not defer or neglect it, for you shall not pass this way again. With this passion in you, it also brings joy, and this joy increases as you give it, and diminishes as you try to keep it for yourself. In giving it, you will accumulate a deposit of joy greater than you ever believed possible. The search for your passion starts with realizing who you are, not what you are, but who you are. It is a search inward which in and of itself can become a passionate exploration. And it is this inward search that will lead you to the awareness of your Highest Potential; the search that leads you to your Passion. Let us be about setting high standards for life, love, creativity, and wisdom. If our expectations in these areas are low, we are not likely to experience well-ness. Setting high standards makes every day and every decade worth looking forward to becoming an achiever.

Courage is the ability to control fear, situations, when facing danger, pain, and opposition. It is followed with bravery, step after step at every situation in ones life, especially when met with a very difficult decision. As a saying in the bible, says; “be thou strong and courageous”, which means that in all situation one need not to allow himself to deviate from his course. Try to picture your project and see yourself already successful though not yet there. Summon up courage and strength in your daily activities before carrying any out, and at the end of the day ask yourself what you achieved. Are you worried that no progress has been made or is there any discouragement meet? Do check the mistakes as previously executed and summon up courage once more. Never give up in any situation you find yourself, after all Rome was not built in a day, there were series of mistakes made by the people that built the city before bringing its standard. Let’s look around us by citing example from the ants, they have strong motivation in whatever they do, everyone see themselves as leaders. Your size or limitations are not enough to affect your performance, achievements or destiny. No limitation in your life can limit the abilities in you, unless you let it. The ants do struggle to live as humans – they live comfortably. Do you know that unpleasant or impossible situation or circumstances is strong enough to kill your dreams? Everyone has talent, what is rear is the courage to follow that talent to the place where it leads; and every talent contains piece of good news inside. The good news is you don’t know how great you can be, how much you can love, what you can accomplish, and what your potential is. Do not give up hope of excelling in that career, business or seemingly impossible place of work. Always remember there is a survival instinct in man. Another lesson in these ants is that they are self-motivated. If you will ever make it to your goal, you have to devise a means or strategy for motivating yourself. What you choose as your motivation is central to the achievement of your goal. If you choose someone as your motivator and suddenly he falls out, it actually means you will definitely crash out, and the only motivator one has to look upon is God. Choose Him as your motivator in anything you lay your hands and success will surely come your way. Appreciate Him in everything, because appreciation can make a day - even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary. Encourage your self in all situations, only do not wait for something big to occur, start where you are, with what you have, and that will always lead you into something greater. When you succeed try let out the cat from its bag, this you do will help someone outside to stand by taking up courage. When a baby rises to its feet, takes a step, is overcome with triumph and joy and falls flat on its face, it is a pattern for all that is to come, learn from the bewildered baby, and lurch to your feet again. We would not know whose life we have touched and made better for our having cared, because actions can sometimes have unforeseen ramifications. What important is that you do care, you act. As you take up courage from your stand, do same for others, for we were created for success and achievers of the future.

Patience can be referred to as the ability to continue waiting or doing something for a long time without becoming angry or anxious or it is the ability to wait, to control your impulses, and hold back your frustrations, its necessary to developing good relationships with your family, friends, and even yourself. Many people are not achieving their goals just because they are in hurry and never put patience into consideration. So many of us lack patience in our society today, leading us to make impulsive choices, become angry with loved ones, and even perform acts of violence. With so many demands placed on us these days from work, family and society, developing patience is more critical than ever. All sentient beings, everyone around you, enemies, friends, and neutral people are very important because your enlightenment depends on them. It is by and with them that we can begin to cultivate spiritual qualities like patience. In fact, the best person for helping us to develop patience is an enemy. You might wonder how that is that possible. Well, how can you practice patience if you have no enemies who try your patience? An enemy is just as precious as someone who benefits you, because without them, how can you practice patience? They help you develop a kind of inbuilt impulse that was never part of you. Do you know that the devil is ready to endure anything; even if it takes years to get bring you down, as he tried Job in the Bible? Most of the time we experience such at home with our kids, siblings, parents, neighbors, and then at work, like your boss, colleagues, tight friends. Without patience negative emotions are easily built, like anger, hatred, and frustration.

We certainly have the opportunity to practice patience in our daily lives. A few common examples are: trying to find a parking place, waiting in a long postal queue, sitting in the doctors offices for hours, being put on hold via a computer-generated telephone message, getting passed from one person to another only to get cut off and end up having to go through the whole rigmarole again, waiting for God to give out the right spiritual gift. Without patience we will not know the right steps to follow. Children and adolescents can also certainly try our patience beyond reckoning.

Tips for being patient with the world
1. "Answer your emails only twice a day at scheduled times. Firstly, to check for urgent emails, and a secondly, at time that you have scheduled after the important tasks have been done (this includes Facebook, Skype, MySpace, Twitter etc.). One of the biggest distracters and time wasters is to respond to emails as they come in, so disable the symbol and sound that notifies you when an email hits your inbox and better yet, turn the Internet off completely so you don't end up surfing the web. Make sure you have no distractions. The studies indicate that every email or anything else that interrupts you, takes 12-15 minutes to get back on track. The same goes for your child who is studying for exams and doing homework.
2. Turn off your phone and mobile and put them on voicemail. When it fits into your schedule, respond to the very important ones and leave the rest till later!
3. If you find it intolerable to wait in queues, always carry an inspirational book or something to preoccupy yourself. Maybe it's a good time to sort out what's in your bag or look at your schedule tomorrow and get organized for the next day. Or listen to the audible earworms on your iPod to learn a new language. This is also a good time to say your affirmations.
4. The next time you start to get aggravated at the dawdling bank teller, the intrusive telesales person, or the disappearing waiter/waitress, imagine that there is a CCTV camera that shows the public a large close up of your face so that every muscle of your impatience is visible. If you don't like that image of yourself then how would you like the world to notice you?
Tips for being patient with your kids
1. When you feel like saying something out of frustration and intolerance, try to either zip your lip or crack a joke instead. Act patiently, don't yak impatiently. You can also reframe the situation at hand with a light-hearted approach. Laughter is much better for your health than the stress that comes with a short fuse and exasperation. Remember, for every minute you are angry you lose 60 seconds of joy with your child.
2. Watch your body-language. Children with ADHD and ASD are developmentally delayed in their ability to self-control and to demonstrate certain prosocial behaviours (usually 30-40% below their peers). All children go through different developmental stages and it is normal to find your child doing such things as writing with a black marker on a beautiful wooden floor or smearing makeup all over her face, your clothes and your room. Before you assume that your child is just being a right pain, consider that she might be trying to copy her mother. Children are experimenting and discovering their world. Kids will spill and break things and they may get sick on your new carpet. Sometimes they are clumsy, vulnerable, forgetful and they make mistakes. Instead of showing a facial expression of disgust and anger, the responsibility lies with the parent to keep things in a safe place and out of reach and to show patience and understanding. Of course there are times that parents need to give consequences, but make sure the punishment fits the crime for what is developmentally appropriate. Kids are not little adults.
3. If you take the time to problem solve with your kids, it gives them practice in developing critical thinking skills which they will need to function successfully in life. Patient parents take the time to be involved in collaborative problem-solving with family members. Dr. Ross Greene, who wrote the book: The Explosive Child, states:
"Instead of asking yourself, 'What's it going to take to motivate this kid to behave differently?' ask 'Why is this so hard for this child? What's getting in his way? How can I help?'"
Tips for being patient with yourself
1. It's not at all flattering to you when you arrive late to meetings and appointments. Make it a habit to arrive early. This will take a conscious effort on your part to set the alarm clock at an earlier time and make a commitment to get on your journey at least half an hour ahead of time. Visualize yourself being early from now on. If you dread waiting around, think of it as a time to practice patience. You can also pull out that inspirational book, sort out what's in your bag or briefcase, organize your schedule, listen to an audible book on your iPod, say your affirmations or breathe deeply. You will feel more contained, collected, and grounded. This serenity can only boost your self-esteem.
2. Really get skilled at this. Become more consciously aware of your impulsiveness and impatience. Count or record how many times during the day you are impatient. Then try to decrease your score! Take deep breaths as an alternative response. We have read that deep breathing can help you lose weight and keep you healthy, thus, the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages of losing your cool. Practice, practice, practice. Yes you can change!
3. Don't try to be all things to all people. Give yourself permission to say "No", "I think that will be too much". "I won't really have time to do that". "Sorry, I can't fit that in to my schedule". When you do make plans to meet with someone, make it your goal to really take pleasure in their company. It is easier to enjoy people when you have made the proper time to see them, and you can give them your full attention. It's not enjoyable to others when you are multi-tasking while talking. It doesn't feel good that you can barely fit them into your schedule and you are looking at your watch from the beginning of the encounter. It is better to be fully present and mindful of your friend, child, relative or colleague. It's also the quality of time together that is valuable, not the quantity.
